CIP Construction’s ongoing commitments to sustainable construction throughout Australia.

It seems like a long time ago but back in 2012 CIP Constructions became the first contractor to succeed in being awarded the first ever 5 Star Green Star Industrial AsBuilt v1 rating 2012 granted in Australian Building history. In those days, achieving such a result was technically challenging, with few subcontractors and suppliers being aware of what was required and the lack of supply of recycled materials.

Thankfully, much has changed over the last 8 years, and Green Star rated buildings and developments are being created without too much fuss or additional cost. CIP has extensive experience in delivering both Green Star compliant and Green Star certified buildings. Such certified projects can be found on our project page, and include Nissan Australia, Sherwood Bus Depot and most recently, our Linfox Australia facility.

As well as delivering quality sustainable construction, CIP has committed to furthering their education of sustainable practices, with staff being encouraged to become Green Star Accredited Professionals (GSAP). Our GSAP Professionals are ever expanding, with resident Professional Tim Van Der Klauw helping to mentor and educate on site and internally.

CIP Constructions also has extensive experience with sustainability through the National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) system. NABERS ratings are a mandatory requirement for all commercial office spaces over 2000m² under the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010 (Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD). As well as the Building Energy Efficiency Certificate (BEEC) regulations coming into effect from 1 November 2011. This requires building owners to submit an energy efficient report and an assessment of tenancy lighting when leasing or selling the property.

CIP, through our consultation with other design team members can provide advice on NABERS rating and on energy efficiency to assist our clients to achieve:

  • Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) Compliance
  • Improved NABERS rating
  • Potentially increased sale valuations and rental returns
  • More energy efficient buildings
  • Reduced running costs
  • Increased market appeal

Please see below pictures of just some of CIP’s sustainable facilities, including the new Nissan Australia headquarters and the first ever 5 star Green Star Industrial build in the Sherwood Bus Depot.
