The CIP Constructions Queensland team had an exciting start to their week, hosting Charter Hall and its tenant customer, Southcott for a Groundbreaking ceremony at Southcott’s new facility in Darra.
This ceremony marks the commencement of construction on the new 13,597sqm site including a 4,635sqm warehouse and 600sqm office, located within Charter Hall’s existing 41.5ha Connectwest Industrial Park. CIP Constructions has a strong history of projects within the Connectwest estate, with Southcott joining other CIP builds, such as Goodman Fielder, Wildbreads, Cascade and Eagers Automotive.
Charter Hall, Southcott and several members of CIP Constructions’ Queensland team were joined on site by Anthony Kemp from Ghungalu and Gorang Nation and Kaylene Bowden from Noogabal Kamilaroi Nation to perform a Welcome to Country speech and a traditional Smoking ceremony, cleansing the area and the people of bad spirits and to promote the protection and well-being of visitors. The smoking ceremony pays respect to the land and sea of country, as well as acknowledging ancestors, including the traditional owners of Darra, who are the Yerongpan clan of Oxley Creek.
Mr Andrew Simons, Head of Development – Industrial and Logistics at Charter Hall, said, “We are pleased to break ground on this purpose-built facility for Southcott, who will join Goodman Fielder, Daimler Trucks, Wildbreads, CEA and Cascade in our state-of-the-art Connectwest Industrial Park.”
“This next stage of development at the estate comes as we continue to observe strong demand for industrial land throughout Brisbane’s southwest corridor. As a leader in hydraulic supplies and industrial solutions, Southcott will benefit from the strategic location of Connectwest Industrial Park, which provides connectivity to Ipswich Motorway and Centenary Highway, and proximity to Brisbane’s key population growth centres.”
Additional features of this build include:
